THE CAR IN THE WOODS
“Don’t touch anything!” Becky’s voice
was sharp and Chris shot her a withering look. “I’m
only making sure there’s no body inside.” Sighing, he put his hands in his
pockets before peering through the side window.
Meanwhile Becky walked slowly round
the clearing. When she’d made a full circuit she called shakily, “Chris –
we should go – now!”
“Why? What’s got you all of a dither?”
“Whoever was driving this car took
the engine with them – and there’s only one set of footprints.”

I may not get round to you all this weekend, as it's my daughter's 50th birthday and her big sister arrived unexpectedly from Ireland to help us celebrate. Therefore I am one happy and distracted-from-writing Mum!
Has to be big to carry the motor all by itself!!
ReplyDeleteRun!
Exactly!
DeleteOoh, I wouldn't like to meet whoever took that!
ReplyDeleteNeither would I 😕
DeleteWow! I remember in ye olden days people used to remove the cables to stop people stealing the car, but no-one was strong enough to take the whole engine with them. Run :-)
ReplyDeleteWas it the starter motor they took? No, the something lead.
DeleteYikes!
ReplyDeleteA giant?
DeleteShe is observant and smart.
ReplyDeleteRealized what was strange!
Better to hurry to a place that's safe.
Car In Cyclone - Anita
I agree with you, Anita
DeleteSee? That's what makes people smart. A whole world of terror created by an open bonnet
ReplyDeleteAnd the footprints. Don't forget the footprints.
DeleteBetter safe than sorry, make a sharp exit. Enjoy the family party!
ReplyDeleteThanks Iain, i will.
DeleteYikes. She is very observant and clever. Now it's time to run.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a good time with your daughters.
Lovely to have them both together for a few days.
Deletei'm sure whoever took the engine out would be coming back. they should confront him and verify that he's the real owner of the car. otherwise, they should tell him it's against the law. :)
ReplyDeleteReally? Would you dare?
DeleteYes it is time to go. Owner was smarter. He ripped the heart out.
ReplyDeletethanks for commenting, Abhijit.
DeleteCue thrashing of the undergrowth as giant footsteps.... I'm scaring myself here.
ReplyDeleteYou're writing a script? I can hear them too!
DeleteDefinitely time to leave. Enjoy your time with your family.
ReplyDeleteThanks Clare!
DeleteYikes! That is a good twist!
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny x
DeleteI have heard that Bigfoot has a soft spot for engines...
ReplyDeleteReally? The things you hear!
DeleteI enjoyed the dialogue and the suspense. They should certainly run!
ReplyDeleteThey will - if he listens to her voice of reason!
DeleteShe is a smart observer! I wouldn't like to meet whoever took the engine away all by himself.
ReplyDeleteNeither would I!
DeleteA really strong dude?
ReplyDeleteIDK...the whole things is creepy if you ask me.
Thanks, Dawn - creepy is what i was aiming for!
