PATRONAGE - Friday Fictioneers

PATRONAGE - 100 words

Sylvia sipped her glass of sangria, trying to conceal how devastated she felt.
Mario hadn’t even looked back as he strode off wearing the Rolex she’d bought him - such a cruel boy to call her old! Age was a state of mind, not years.

A voice broke into her thoughts. “You buy, Señora? I paint just for you.”
Sylvia stared at the painting – surely she didn’t look that cross?
She was about to snap a refusal when she looked up at the artist and her pulse quickened.
“What a clever boy you are! Let me buy you a drink.”

    1. Thanks Sandra - it's the secret ingredient in sangria that does it!

  6. Nice one. These ultra short stories often look like very good seeds - are you going to let some of them grow?

  11. I love Sylvia, but not all cougars have to buy. That boy is for a time though.

  13. Dear Liz,

There's a cougar who snaps back in a hurry. Good one.

  14. I suspect the budding artist is a clever boy, indeed--he saw Mario's Rolex and decided Sylvia, and her bucks, looked like a good thing.

  15. More money than sense! Love it! I also love this 100 word story idea. When I have a bit more time (hopefully in a few months!) I might well join you all.

  17. And so it began again. She must have a lot of money to keep buying her young lovers a Rolex. Good writing and I hope she finds happiness - perhaps in a Timex? Thanks, Nan

    1. There's a thought - perhaps if she spent less money she'd find true love?

  18. Well, I did it again - I lost the comment I had made. It wasn't anything spectacular. I really love your story. Maybe if she bought the new one a Timex instead of the Rolex, they would stay. "You Can't Buy Me Love." Thanks, Nan

    1. Nan - thank you for persevering! Your comment won't appear on my blog instantly because it has to wait for me to read it and post it. Last year I had some weird spam comments so now I regulate them. Sorry it's confusing, but as you can see, I ended up with three from you! :)
