UNCHARTED WATERS
Dan took risks every day, diving on wrecks for sunken
treasure, but the day he took the helmet round to show his sister he faced a hitherto
unknown challenge.
Not that he knew that when he said blithely, “Sure – I’ll
babysit.”
Dan was like a kid himself, building a camp with the
furniture, but when he came face to striped tights with Polly’s rear end he
recoiled in horror. Not even the sudden appearance of a giant squid had
terrified him as much.
He grabbed the helmet. Valuable antique or not, it was the
only way to deal with a smelly nappy.
Lol. Good one!
ReplyDeleteyou must have experienced this?
DeleteVery clever. I hadn't thought of that reason for the 'helmet'.
ReplyDeleteThe reason struck me straight away, which is why I was so quick off the mark with my story!
DeleteWe've all been there. This is the best way so far to face the nappy. Good job.
ReplyDeleteHelmet or gas mask - either would do!
DeleteNicely done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anon - who are you?
DeleteThis is a funny story, Liz. I love the unexpected ending and use for the helmut.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen - the striped tights evoked memories of my own daughters!
DeleteLOL very funny. and a clever title. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you - glad you liked it. Funny makes a change for me!
DeleteThis made me laugh out loud. : ) Those were the days, especially when the diaper didn't completely contain everything. I could picture this guy's face. Hilarious and well written. : )
ReplyDeleteAh Josh - you are obviously a parent! You'll remember having to wash a baby all over, plus its clothes and then yourself?
DeleteI think there were times when Bill would have done this had we had a helmet. Lots of fun, Lizy. Thanks for starting my morning with a laugh.
ReplyDeletejanet
There were times when I held my breath, and I had four of my own and a few fostered!
DeleteI bet a lot of parents could do with that helmet. Nice one!
ReplyDeleteThere are always gas masks!
DeleteAha ha! A diving helmet, now why did I never think of that? Fortunately I don't have to do that anymore :-) A funny take on the prompt.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a few years since I changed a nappy - my youngest grandson is seven. I'm waiting for great-grandchildren now!
DeleteHi Lizy,
ReplyDeleteJust rushed over here after um, playing a frantic game of Bingo. Or maybe not.
A nappy, eh. Or diaper as those in North America would say. I could use a helmet like that whenever Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar lets out some of her legendary flatulence. Yeah, I know, blame it on the dog.
Gary :)
Blame it on the dog? My Pa always did, after having lifted his cheek off the chair , smiling wickedly, and letting off a beauty.
DeleteAwesome! I love it! :)
ReplyDeletethank you JF.
DeleteCute story. I've changed plenty of them and could have used a helmet. But I've never heard the word "nappy!"
ReplyDeleteIt's an English word - probably short for 'napkin' - you must be American? Where do you get the word 'diaper' from?
DeleteWo! Totally unexpected ending.. caught me there.. and enjoyed it ! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Horus - glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteDefinitely was not expecting that! Good one!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading and commenting, Barb - and I'm pleased I surprised you!
DeleteLaugh out loud funny! I really enjoyed the surprise ending and the laugh! It caught me off guard. ;)
ReplyDelete~Lynda
Thanks for the vote in favour of Easter fun, Lynda.
DeleteMade me laugh out loud! I loved this one (and I've dealt with nappies like that too, but not for a long time.)
ReplyDeleteSome things you never forget - one whiff and you're back in the joys of parenthood!
DeleteOh Dear God... I was not expecting that! Funny, funny, funny...
ReplyDeleteNice to know I can still surprise people!
ReplyDeleteLOL! That's too cute. I could totally see a guy doing that. =)
ReplyDeleteTrue Heroes from A to Z
Thanks Crystal - men are such wimps, aren't they!
DeleteSo well done. The brave diver reduced by a smelly nappy. Lovely and so funny.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah - ithis is the first time I've had a comment so close to the next photo prompt!
