This week's photograph reminds me of our own Mount Teide in Tenerife, hence my story this week. I hope you enjoy it, and do please leave a comment so that I know you've visited!
BUCKET LIST
James and Sarah drove up to the mountain picnic area where
their children had already lit the barbecue. Lucy popped champagne and they all
raised their glasses.
“Dad and Mum – forty years together,” Lucy said, but
couldn’t resist adding, “Why not a cruise?”
“Not on our bucket list,” James said, grabbed Sarah’s hand,
and ran into the forest.
They only returned when the steaks were ready.
“Where have you been?” Lucy demanded.
“We’re six thousand feet above sea level here,” Sarah said,
kissing James in front of everyone. “It was
on our bucket list to join the Mile High Club.”
That made me chuckle!
ReplyDeletethanks Helen - it made me chucjle too when someone I know actually did it!
DeleteThe mile high club less traveled I suppose? I wonder if the kids suddenly lost their appetites.
ReplyDeleteAs someone once said, sex is wasted on the young!
DeleteThere's a first time for everything... ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of adding that to my own BL.
DeleteThe Mile High Club, huh? I suppose it was worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteyou should ask James and Sarah!
DeleteThe Mile High Club, huh? I hope it was worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteJust where do you get these ideas, Lizy?
ReplyDeleteActually, no - don't answer that!
My lips are sealed :)
DeleteYeah, I bet the kids suddenly didn't feel that hungry : )
ReplyDelete"The kids" are all grown up - surely they should realise how they came into existence?
DeleteNot in front of the children! Clever take.
ReplyDeleteWell, it wasn't actually in front of them, was it?
DeleteThese days the kids would probably say, "TMI!" :-) Enjoyable take, Lizy.
ReplyDeletejanet
Their daughter shouldn't have asked, should she?
DeleteAh,still at it after 40 years? Then they deserve every bit of that fun;-)This made me smile, good job:-)
ReplyDeleteNot everyone gives it up in middle age!
DeleteSweet !

Dear Lizy,
ReplyDeleteThere's a point in life where the kids have to realize certain things about their parents, right? Nice one.
Shalom,
Rochelle
There is indeed, Rochelle! That we're not here just for their benefit is one of those things :)
DeleteLOL i love that they're still so crazy about each other :)
ReplyDeleteAnd crazy enough to do it in a forest a mile up too!
DeleteHahaha, romantic and hilarious! Nothing better than getting high in the woods. (Not that I've tried it, but I'm sure it's up there with other "nothing's better than this" stuff).
ReplyDeleteIt's been done, believe me!
DeleteCute ... and believable! Nice job.
ReplyDeleteand true.
DeleteHa.. I have walked up on Mount Teide once.. great they did not have to go all the way up.. though it would be hard to find a soft spot at that level--
ReplyDeleteIt's hard enough to breathe at the picnic area level - on the peak one wouldn't have enough oxygen for such goings-on!
DeleteHa! Wonder what the kids said to that? This pic's at over 9,000 ft, a little bit higher and they could have been in the 2 mile club!
ReplyDeleteDidn't know there was a 2 mile club!
DeleteSame title, VERY different story, lol
ReplyDeleteGreat minds and all that! Yours was good too!
DeleteGood story, well-done and a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteVery happy!
