CICADA
My cicada has gone!
For a couple of weeks
it was sending out increasingly frantic “I am here” signals, one lone voice in
the wilderness, but now it’s stopped.
Was it eaten by an
opportunist bird or lizard? Did a cat - (maybe ours) - with its night-vision eyes
catch it, torture it for a while and then squash it with a paw? Has it died, heartbroken for lack of company?
Maybe, just maybe, it’s
moved on to a more rewarding patch of ground?
